Scintillating Scotoma

February 18, 2017
5.75" x 5.75"
line work

This comes from September 5, 2008, around the time I got my first migraine. When it happened, I didn’t know what was going-on. At the beginning, I found I couldn’t see what I was directly looking at. There was a void. Then, it took the shape of a small, shimmering blob off to the left. Even if I closed my eyes, there it was. And then it began to grow and open up as it continued to “move past me”. Finally, it passed my vision completely and then the pain + nausea hit. I thought I was having a stroke and went to the doctor, who quickly diagnosed it for what it was. I don’t get them often, maybe one every couple of years, but I got one today and it sucks.
