Location: A Shrine in The Valley

This stone was inspired by the Pink Floyd song “Chapter 24” which was written by Syd Barrett and appears on their first album “The Piper At The Gates of Dawn”. The song refers to the 24th hexagram of the I Ching, and I find myself singing the opening lyrics quite often, which I inscribed along the edge of this stone. The symbol itself is the traditional Chinese text meaning “recover” or “go and return” (among other things).

A movement is accomplished in six stages
And the seventh brings return

The song is one of my favorite songs penned by Syd Barrett. It sounds so bright and full of optimism. Richard Wright’s keyboards and harmonies at the end take it to another level.
